Projects — Liquid Science

  • How are computers used by DJs?
  • What effect does dancing have on our bodies?
  • How do lasers work?
  • What are the effects and dangers of recreational drugs?

There is an incredible amount of exciting science to be found on a night out!

Liquid Science is an innovative project in which the Science of a Nightclub comes to Newcastle during National Science and Engineering Week, 2012 in a project that sees the teaching of science moving right out of the classroom and into a nightclub!

One of Newcastle upon Tyne's premier night spots has offered their state-of-the-art space so students can experience a full day of exciting, 'hands-on' science workshops delivered by professionals, with the theme of science in a nightclub providing the basis for a variety of different sessions.

Workshops will include investigating lighting effects, having fun with technology and looking at the effects of alcohol on the body.

The students will also receive first-hand tuition on the technological tricks of the trade from a professional DJ as well as having their bodies monitored for the effects of dancing by local experts using specialist equipment.

The event is aimed at Year 11 students, so if you would like to participate, please contact us to register your interest.
